End of Hiatus?

Wow, I can't believe it has been more than a year since I last wrote here.

So much has happened around me, and inside of me as well.

Keeping an online presence sure is tough. I realized that I like to read more than I like to write. I also prefer to be somewhere else than being here in Singapore.

That brings me to my next point. After so many years of studying the language, following various subcultures, listening to the music, traveling there countless times, and using all these Japan-related things that have become a part of me, I realized how much I am shortchanging myself at my current job and location.

The "awakening" has been more than ten years in the making. After going through all the stuff that happened at work, and pursuing money for its own sake, all those readings I've done (mostly on the internet) have finally reached me.

It is a conscious decision to move to Japan. "Follow your heart" is not the best advice to anyone probably. The heart is weak and one has to strengthen it and give it enough fodder to grow the confidence and conviction required.

I have felt liberated ever since I made my decision. As the day draws closer, my heart can't help but beat wilder and harder. In the during this transition period, I have started being more active on LinkedIn. Like what we already know of the internet, it is also a trove of information. Basically I started off trying to find jobs through it. Then I got involved in some language and project management groups. After which I got hooked on some writers' articles and what do you know? I wrote one myself!

Read it here! In this first post, I wrote about my 3 observations (realizations) as a borderline millennial (Gen Y). The article may read like it is meant for an audience but really, I wrote it largely as a form of self-affirmation. There is just too much junk to filter off on the internet and such an article reminds me of what I have concluded from my own experience regardless of what I have read. Besides, self-disclosure, and self-expression are supposed to have their therapeutic effects on the writer? I think.

Anyways, I will still like to keep this blog. Maybe I'd write about my adventures in Japan, or something. Perhaps I will write articles which are not "appropriate" for LinkedIn here.

Stay tuned?
